Wimbledon 2025 live: Swiatek vs Bencic tennis score, Sabalenka vs Anisimova result

It’s going from bad to worse for Bencic.

She’s now 0-30 down on her serve, and it gets to 0-40 when she’s lured to the net and passed by a nudging shot from Swiatek.

Swiatek has one foot in her first Wimbledon final…

Swiatek with an easy hold and, just like that, she has a 4-1 lead in this first set.

Bencic follows suit, to keep herself going, but Swiatek eases to 30-0 on her next service game.

Great defence by Swiatek, but Bencic gets into the game at 30-15 with some lovely attacking play, setting up a forehand drive volley into the corner.

It’s a brief resistance, however, and Swiatek pulls ahead again to hold.

For the first time in this match, but third time today, there’s a pause in play due to a fan fainting!

Keeping our fingers crossed, here at The Independent, that the fan is okay.

After about eight minutes, play will finally resume.

Bencic gets in front at 0-15, but Swiatek quickly restores parity.

Now a pump of the fist from Swiatek, who moves ahead at 30-15.

40-15 up now, as Bencic flings a return of serve long.

At 15-15, Swiatek puts away a high volley at the net, but all eyes are on Bencic, who has fallen on the other end of the net.

She’s up and seems okay; the fall appeared to occur when her feet almost stopped underneath her as she chased a shot.

Now Swiatek nets a backhand, and it’s 30-30.

The Pole battles to earn a break point, however, before dialling up the pressure and slapping home a forehand at the net!

Swiatek is on course for a perfect hold, to love, in the opening game – until Bencic swats a forehand winner into the corner. 40-15.

But Swiatek produces her own winner, down the line, to get the hold!
