Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates lock horns in this season’s Nedbank Cup final. Here’s all you need to know before the blockbuster battle.

Kaizer Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates in the 2025 Nedbank Cup final

Chiefs and Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates will contest their ninth meeting in a Nedbank Cup final. The stage is set for kickoff at 15:30 on Saturday, 10 May at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Cautious optimism for Kaizer Chiefs

Of the teams’ eight previous meetings in the Nedbank Cup final, Kaizer Chiefs have won six finals – in 1971, 1976, 1977, 1981, 1984 and 2006. Orlando Pirates have managed two wins in 1975 and 1988. A 75% win ratio is a huge reason for Amakhosi fans to be cautiously optimistic.

Mayele and Eppiah to Chiefs?

Egyptian side Pyramids FC want to cash in on Kaizer Chiefs target Fiston Mayele. The prolific Congolese marksman’s contract expires in a year, and they’d rather not lose him on a free transfer in June 2026. Meanwhile, the same publication believes that Chiefs are looking at 26-year-old Belgian striker Josh Eppiah.
