Sunday’s action
A reminder that there are two sessions for the final on Sunday.
The afternoon kicks off at 1pm and then we’ll all be back in the evening for a 7pm start.
SunSport will bring you all the build-up and frame-by-frame coverage, of course.
Match odds
As Stephen Maguire suggested, he’s likely to be up against it tomorrow against Mark Selby.
And the bookies agree, making the Jester a 3/10 shot to lift the title tomorrow evening.
- Mark Selby 3/10
- Stephen Maguire 5/2
‘Mark’s been better than me’
Maguire will play old rival Mark Selby in the final on Sunday, with the Jester having a narrow lead in their head-to-head battles over the years.
The Scot admitted that Selby has been in better form this week – but knows it won’t count for anything.
He told the BBC: “I think, in hindsight, all week Mark has been playing better than me.
“I’ve been scraping my way through, just winning matches somehow.
“But tomorrow is another day, I’m hoping I can find some form out there and play to what I think I should.
“I just want that title.”
More from Maguire
Speaking on BBC, Maguire added: “I don’t think any of us were playing that well. I thought I wasn’t going to win that.
“I didn’t quite get the chances to finish it off, then when I did, little things were happening.
“Just glad to get over the line.
“I found it easy because of [Carter].
“He was cracking up – the rests were getting thrown about, the extensions getting thrown about.
“I thought is that the way I act?”
On tomorrow’s final
Asked if he was looking forward to tomorrow’s final, Maguire added: “Yeah I just want to go back and make a couple of calls.
“Then we’ll be back on the tables in the morning getting ready for the match.”
Tense ending
A bit of needle in that match, certainly by Stephen Maguire’s first comment after victory…
He told EuroSport: “It was tense out there.
“I found it easier playing him though. The rests were getting thrown about, the extensions were getting chucked under the table.
“I felt like telling the referee ‘make him pick them up!”
