Nasreddine Nabi’s role as Kaizer Chiefs coach has the Amakhosi hierachy split with the Soweto derby around the corner.

Chiefs head coach, Nasreddine Nabi has left Amakhosi management split over his future.

Half the hierachy feel he needs more time. Whilst, the other half are growing impstient with the lack of results and little to no improvement. So, the up-and-coming back-to-back Soweto derbies against Orlando Pirates could very well determine his fate.

CHIEFS FANS GROWING IMPATIENT WITH NABI

It is debatable whether Chiefs have improved under Nabi’s tenure or not.

Chiefs are on a six match winless run in the Betway Premiership. Meanwhile, they currently sit ninth in the latest standings with seven rounds to play. Meaning, they are in a figh to finish in the top 8 finish in order to qualify for next seasons MTN8.

This is a bare minumum for Amakhosi supporters and pundits alike. Failure to finish in the top 8 will likely spell an abrubt end to Nabi’s reign as Chiefs coach.

So, the first Soweto derby against Pirates on 3 May 2025 is vital to Amakhosi’s top 8 hopes. Also, it is crucial for Nabi’s reputation amongst suporters. Remember, the Soweto derby means everything to fans.

However, their is a potential silver lining on the horizon for Nabi and Chiefs…

NEDBANK CUP FINAL TO SAVE HIS JOB, END TROPHY DROUGHT

Chiefs take on Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final on 10 May 2025.

Moreover, this will be the second Soweto derby in the space of a week.

Nabi has the chance to end Amakhosi’s ten year trophy drought. A win would see silverware return to Naturena for the first time since the iconic 2014/15 side won the PSL trophy.

This would certainly calm impatient Amakhosi supporters and management alike. Ultimately, if Chiefs fail to qualify for the top 8 and go another season without silverware, Nabi will probably face the axe.

SHOULD NABI BE GIVEN MORE TIME AT CHIEFS OR SHOULD HE BE AXED?
