BREAKING: Mbeumo talks opened

Manchester United have opened talks with Brentford for star forward Bryan Mbeumo, according to reports.

The Cameroon international, 25, has indicated that he wants to move to Old Trafford this summer.

Brentford are willing to let their former record signing leave this summer, but won’t flog him on the cheap.

According to Sky Sports, United have “established contact” with the Bees ahead of making a formal bid.

Mbeumo has attracted interest from the likes of Tottenham, Newcastle and Arsenal this summer.

Fernandes opens up

Bruno Fernandes has opened up on his collapsed move to Al-Hilal.

The midfielder turned down the Saudi outfit and has spoken about the transfer while on international duty.

He said: “There was an opportunity.

“The president called me and asked if I wanted to go there.

“They were waiting for me. I spoke to coach [Ruben] Amorim. He asked me not to go.

“Manchester United didn’t want to sell me. They don’t need the money. If I had wanted to leave, they would have made it happen.

“Al Hilal were very kind. They spoke to my agent. Then I spoke to my wife. She asked: ‘What do you want to do?’ She always supports my decisions.

“It would have been easy to move there. I know the Portuguese players there very well. But I want to play at the highest level and compete for major titles.

“I can do that, and I still want to. I’m very passionate about football.”

United kit ‘leaked’

Fans declared “you couldn’t pay me to wear it” after Manchester United’s new third kit was leaked online.

The Red Devils are looking to make amends after enduring a miserable campaign both domestically and abroad.

However, any supporter looking to find solace in United’s new third kit will be left sorely disappointed.

That’s after fellow fans hit out at the latest design for the alternative jersey, which features a bizarre black-and-yellow colour combination.

Klopp consideration

Manchester United have been urged to consider appointing Jurgen Klopp as manager if Ruben Amorim leaves the club.

Former Arsenal star Martin Keown believes that Klopp would be able to perform an “incredible job” at Old Trafford.

He said: “Just look at the number of games they’ve lost.

“It’s going to be a very interesting start to next season for them but they could do a lot worse than go and get Jurgen Klopp to manage their football club.

“I’m not trying to sensationalise.

“I believe he could do an incredible job there and I believe they need somebody with more experience than the current manager.”
