The FMF Inter District Championship will start today in Suva, capturing the attention of football fans.

Among the competing teams, Labasa FC stands out with a special mission, and that is to bring home the IDC title for their passionate supporters this season.

Despite a challenging year marked by setbacks, including disappointing performances in the Battle of the Giants tournament, the Babasiga Lions are channelling all their energy and focus into winning their eighth IDC championship.

Labasa’s season has been far from successful, having missed out on titles in their last two tournaments.

However, the team sees the IDC trophy as the perfect opportunity to end the year on a high note.

Midfielder Lekima Gonerau expresses their readiness and determination.

“Our team is going all out in terms of the IDC preparations because we want to do well, especially for this big tournament. Every year we always look forward to winning a title, however, we have fallen short so far this year as we have not won anything. This is the last tournament and the biggest, and we will give our best to win the IDC.”

The Super Premier competition starts at 1:30pm with Navua playing Nadi followed by the Nasinu and Rewa match at 3:30pm.

Ba faces Lautoka at 5:30pm before hosts Suva take on Labasa at 8:00pm.
