Following widespread speculation doing the rounds, Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly made a decision on coach Nasreddine Nabi’s future!

On Monday a report came out suggesting that Chiefs were ready to pull the plug on Nabi and his staff.

Nabi led Chiefs to Nedbank Cup title

This despite the group delivering Chiefs’ first trophy in 10-years after winning the Nedbank Cup over the weekend. They did so after beating arch rivals Orlando Pirates 2-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. The expectation was that it would help turnover a new leaf for Nabi and his technical team at Amakhosi.

This after a debut season that still sees Chiefs outside the top 8. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, after a meeting, the club have decided not to fire Nabi, regardless of where he finishes the season.

Set to stay at the club?

“We really don’t know where people get this. The meeting was only heard today, and it’s believed that the coach is not going anywhere. Everyone now apparently agrees that changing the coach again will be like stop and go and then stop again. They are also believed to want to see the coach see off his contract as that will at least guarantee continuity. So, since he has at least one year remaining on his contract and then that one-year option. But the main decision will be at the end of next season, not this season. It’s believed that the coach is not going anywhere,” said a source speaking to same publication.

A second source said the only way Nabi could leave Chiefs is if he isn’t happy at the club.

Only he can decide to leave

“The team wants him to stay and see off his contract. But unless the coach himself is not happy and resigns then that’s a different situation but not from the management firing him. So, that’s how things are believed to be at the moment. So from where I stand, the coach will see his contract through,” said a second source.

stay or go?
