It has been another season of mixed fortunes for Kaizer Chiefs, with the Glamour Boys currently sitting mid-table in the Betway Premiership, while a daunting Nedbank Cup semi-final against Sundowns could spell trouble for a potentially trophyless season once again.
At the start of the year, Kaizer Chiefs did bolster their ranks with the signing of three talented players, namely Thabo Cele, Tashreeq Morris, and Glody Makabi Lilepo.
The club has already begun to make plans for next season, which has seen the likes of Edson Castillo and Ashley du Preez reportedly signing extensions.
However, according to the reliable SABC Sport, midfielder George Matlou is assessing options with the club after fighting his way back from injury earlier this season.
The report suggests that a contract extension has yet to be table, and that the midfielder could now leave on a free transfer from July onwards.
It remains to be seen if something will change in the weeks and months to come, but this is certainly not the news Chiefs fans will want to hear.
