The Fiji National U-17 football team has been drawn in Group D for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025, marking a monumental first-ever appearance on the global stage for the Pacific nation.
The Baby Bula Boys are set to face three powerhouse teams — Argentina, Belgium, and Tunisia — in a group that promises intense competition and global attention.
The tournament will be held from November 3 to 27 at state-of-the-art venues across Doha, with all matches centralized in the renowned Aspire Zone complex.
This appearance is a historic milestone for Fijian football and a reward for the country’s growing investment in youth development.
Fiji earned qualification through a spirited campaign at the OFC U-16 Championship 2024, with a memorable semi-final victory over Tahiti that booked their ticket to Qatar.
Speaking on the draw, Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel said the group assignment represents both a challenge and an opportunity.
“To be drawn alongside former world champions and top-ranked youth teams is an incredible moment for Fiji. Our players will gain invaluable experience and represent the region with pride,” he stated.
The 2025 edition of the FIFA U-17 World Cup features an expanded format of 48 nations, grouped into 12 pools of four teams. The top two teams from each group and the eight best third-placed teams will progress to the Round of 32.
The tournament’s final will be hosted at the Khalifa International Stadium on Wednesday, November 27. All matches will be played across elite facilities in Doha, giving players the experience of competing at one of the world’s premier sporting infrastructures.
The Baby Bula Boys will now intensify preparations under the guidance of head coach Sunil Kumar, with training camps and international friendlies expected in the lead-up to the tournament.
This World Cup debut is not just a footballing milestone but a symbol of the progress Fiji continues to make in the global sporting arena.
