It all comes down to this: Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn meet in a grudge match tonight, more than two years after they were first due to fight – and over 30 years after their fathers last clashed.
In 1990, Eubank Sr stopped Nigel Benn, who fought his rival to a draw in their 1993 rematch. Now, the sons square off at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, in a unique extension of their fathers’ feud. And there is genuine bad blood between Eubank Jr and Benn, with the former taking great issue with his opponent’s adverse drug-test findings in 2022, which thwarted their planned bout that year.
Benn, 28, was subsequently suspended in Britain but fought twice in the US, staying unbeaten and finally being cleared to box on home soil in late 2024. Meanwhile, 35-year-old Eubank Jr has competed three times since, trading stoppage wins with Liam Smith and TKOing Kamil Szeremeta more recently.
Tonight, Benn fights two weights above his usual division, as he meets Eubank Jr at middleweight, although the latter was heavily fined for a minor weigh-in miss and also had a rehydration clause to battle; but he weighed-in under the 170lb allowance this morning.
All aspects make for a huge night for British boxing, as the rivals top a stacked card in London. What’s more: Nigel will be in his son’s corner, although Sr’s strained relationship with Jr means the elder Eubank is due to be absent. Chris Billam-Smith vs Brandon Glanton kicks off undercard
After a decent start, this is trending poorly for CBS right now. He’s backed up to the ropes, and Glanton finds the chin repeatedly.
There are some “ooohh”s in the crowd, as fans of the Briton begin to fear for him, perhaps…
If CBS is going to win this, he’s going to have to do it the hard way. Then again, when has he done it the easy way?
He at least stems the tide somewhat as the round progresses.
Chris Billam-Smith vs Brandon Glanton kicks off undercard
Each man is throwing with such intensity. CBS’s shots seem to carry a bit more weight… Now he shoves the American away from him.
Heavy right hook to the head of CBS, and he stumbles slightly – it appears to be from the strength of the punch, rather than because he’s buzzed. But he’s cornered now, and eats a left hand flush in the face.
A perfectly-timed right hook upstairs catches CBS! He stays composed, but that was the shot of the fight so far.
He holds Glanton late on, then creates some distance and skips away.

Chris Billam-Smith vs Brandon Glanton kicks off undercard
Glanton leans on CBS early in round two and attacks the body and head. CBS, too, switches up his targets well.
A bruising pair of hooks to the body of Glanton, then a swiping right cross up top. Back he comes, but he’s warned by the referee for punching low.
More heavy smacks to the body of the American, but still he responds well. Is this a matter of who feels the body damage first?
Glanton leans on CBS on the ropes again, as we enter the final minute of the round. More holding.
Lovely body combination from the Briton, but a fine hook in response by Glanton. Each man lands a left hook to the head late in the round.

Here we go! There’s a touch of gloves, ensured by the referee. Both boxers stand orthodox, and Glanton presses forward early.
Lots of close-range fighting, with both men digging to the body. Now a clinch as CBS gets himself off the ropes. Strong uppercut and a pair of left hooks from the Briton.
Fast pace already. CBS gets criticism for taking a lot of punches, but he’s landing frequently so far.
CBS is timing his left hook well, but he does glance up at the clock after a clinch on the ropes – one minute to go. Is he feeling the effects of some decent body work by Glanton?
Now the American with a pair of hooks, one off each wing. CBS comes back with a one-two.
They cannot sustain this pace, or it’ll get sloppy (and even more entertaining).
Chris Billam-Smith vs Brandon Glanton kicks off undercard
Okay, in position at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where a cruiserweight clash between former world champion Chris Billam-Smith and Brandon Glanton kicks off the undercard!
American Glanton chose to use the Briton’s son as verbal ammunition on Thursday, and shockingly threatened to give Billam-Smith “brain damage” ahead of this bout.
Glanton did apologise for his comments at yesterday’s weigh-in – but don’t expect anyone inside the stadium to be on his side.
Both men are in the ring.
