It has tragically come to light that the Grade 10 pupil collapsed and died just as the teenage boy was getting ready to take to the field for a hockey match.
The pupil was preparing for the sports game when he stepped away from the warm-up, before collapsing, with paramedics tragically unable to resuscitate him.
“It is with deep sorrow that we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and school community of the Grade 10 pupil from Glenwood High School who tragically passed away while preparing for a hockey match,” stated KwaZulu-Natal Education MEC Sipho Hlomuka.
