Man United vs Roma LIVE: Champions League score and updates with Michael Carrick on brink

Here’s Richard Jolly inside Old Trafford:

32 mins: Only the away fans can be heard inside Old Trafford at the moment as they watch their side pop the ball around 10 red mannequins.

There is a lack of energy and movement all-round. No wind under these sails.

26 mins: United are trying to produce some kind of response.

On each flank, both Dalot and Amad break into the box and go down claiming a penalty, but the referee isn’t having it. Dalot’s claim was soft and Amad’s just wasn’t a penalty – it was a superb recovery challenge by Wesley.

Baleba also had a crack from outside of the box but leans back and it flies well over.

23 mins: Roma have just been forced into making a change as Lulli replaces the injured Rensch at right wing-back.

22 mins: United fans are throwing their gold and green balloons onto the pitch. Looks like it’s part of the orchestrated protest against the ownership. Then again, it might just be the closest thing to hand for fans wanting to express their anger at the players.

19 mins: Oh my word, Roma were nearly just in for three. It’s given away and played to Malen in the box, but it runs just behind him.

Ayden Heaven, however, can’t clear and Roma have another chance – this time it’s blocked.

United eventually hoof it up and Fernandes and Soule start getting into it in a United corner. Both are booked. This is falling apart for the hosts. Calamitous.

Here’s Richard Jolly inside Old Trafford:

Donyell Malen steps up… and he was always going to score in his form.

It is the nightmare first 20 minutes.

It goes from bad to worse!

Once more, Man United are opened up by that same pass into Soule on the right.

They initially get the tackle but give it away seconds later, and as Soule shoots, Ayden Heaven blocks it with his arm.

14 mins: United look to respond immediately as they move it down the right, flashing it across goal with Cunha coming in at the back post – but it’s dealt with by Roma.
