41 mins: Jeremie Frimpong is baffled as he ends up in the book for a supposed pull on Mathys Tel. It just looked like they were having a normal tussle for the ball.

Moments later, Omar Marmoush becomes the first Spurs player to see yellow.

40 mins: CHANCE! Once again, the Roberto De Zerbi tactic of playing goal-kicks out from your own box backfires for Spurs as their back-line panics and loses possession, allowing Liverpool to push in.

The ball is cut back from the byline to Alexis Mac Allister who gets the shot all wrong, going with his wrong foot and poking well wide.

But it all stems from this strategy that just doesn’t seem to suit these Spurs players.

36 mins: Liverpool want a penalty as James McConnell is bundled over by Marcos Senesi in the area, but the referee waives it away.

Spurs then counter through Omar Marmoush and he is pulled back by Ronald Araujo. An easy yellow card.

But it’s Spurs who are creating all their own problems as they give away possession from that free-kick, allowing Koumas to bear down on goal. His shot is deflected for a corner.
