Teams participating in the upcoming Extra Battle of the Giants have been urged to ensure their players are familiar with the latest changes to the Laws of the Game.
Fiji Football Association chief executive Mohammed Yusuf said districts should reach out to their respective Referee Development Officers (RDOs) to organise sessions with players and team officials.
The changes to the Laws of the Game came into effect from July 1, 2026.
“We encourage all teams to reach out to their RDOs and ensure their players and officials fully understand the Laws of the Game that have been implemented since July 1,” Yusuf said.
He said particular attention should be given to regulations relating to time management during matches.
“It is important that players understand the changes, especially the amount of time a goalkeeper is permitted to control the ball with the hands and the time taken when players are being substituted,” he said.
“We do not want players going into major competitions without being familiar with these laws. The RDOs are available to assist teams and provide the necessary clarification.”
Yusuf said coaches and team officials also have a responsibility to ensure their players understand the regulations before taking the field.
The 2026 Extra BOG kicks off at Four R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba on September 4.
