Chelsea still need a keeper?
Despite being named goalkeeper of the tournament and scoring another clean sheet – making it four out of seven matches – some people are still not sure on Robert Sanchez.
Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel is one of those.
He told DAZN: “I still believe we do need a top, top goalkeeper.
“Robert Sanchez had a brilliant game today but going into the new season – with the Champions League and the Premier League – I think you still need another top goalkeeper that is going to come in and compete with him.
“Healthy competition is important and we’ve seen that with the signing of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.”
Not far away
Tottenham and Real Madrid legend Gareth Bale reckons this win could well see Chelsea move into a different stratosphere next season.
The Welshman told DAZN: “I don’t think they are far away at all [from challenging for the Premier League title].
“Last season they got to around Christmas and everyone was talking about them being contenders.
“Obviously they are a young team and they kind of fell off but I think they will learn a lot from that.
“They have shown character as a team to come back and win the Conference League and now win this.
“I think confidence will be booming and they will have that self belief now.”
‘No words’
Enzo Maresca was buzzing with that performance and win, capping a brilliant first season in charge of the Blues.
He told DAZN: “I have no words for the players. They all deserve this and it’s a good moment.
“For me, we won the game in the first 10 minutes. We set the tempo and we were very good at pressing them.
“The conditions made it hard to keep going but the boys did well.”
Speaking about Cole Palmer, he said:
“Today we found a position for him where there was more space to attack.
“Obviously Cole played really well but the effort from all the players was fantastic.
“Of course I am very excited [about the future] but I’m more excited that we have three weeks off.”
