Daniil Medvedev vs Cameron Norrie LIVE: French Open scores and updates ahead of Novak Djokovic’s return

There’s no focus to Medvedev now. He’s dialled back in again and Norrie will have to weather this resurgence.

The Brit is doing well to keep with him at 30-30, but a brilliant cross court backhand puts Medvedev ahead again.

This set could not be going any better for Norrie. He’s playing well but is being gifted a lot of points by his opponent.

Two shots of fury from Medvedev put Norrie in control but he recovers with some dainty and delicate net play.

Medvedev forces deuce with a two-handed backhand down the line and may just be finding a bit of rhythm again. That could be crucial going into the third set and beyond.

Or maybe in this set? A break from Medvedev keeps him alive in the second set.

This is better from Medvedev. He was on the brink of having a full argument with his coach but has composed himself in the slight break of play.

He clinically moves to 40-15 but unforced errors bring Norrie back into the game at deuce.

Another mistake up at the net offers up a break point to Norrie. Medvedev comes forward again and messes up at the net!

Norrie is sticking to his own game and taking it point-by-point.

At 30-0 up, Norrie hits the net and moves over to wipe his racket grip with a towel.

An attempted lob from Medvedev brings the Brit a third point in the game. Norrie serves put wide, Medvedev can’t return and Norrie secures the break of serve.

Norrie is getting his forehand to land with regularity which, in turn, is causing Medvedev to grow ever frustrated.

The Russian remains determined to play with a deft touch and matches Norrie up to deuce.

He attempts a volley at the net but Norrie’s return is too quick to control and the Brit picks up advantage.

Norrie then smashes a forehand to win and break!

Cameron Norrie will be peachy after that first set. He’s playing well and will want to capitalise on that.

Norrie opens up the second set but it is Medvedev who goes on the attack. He comes up to the net and wins the first point with a volley.

The Russian then lines up a whipped forehand down the line and, just, lands it too long.

Norrie has the better of him in the next rally. Medvedev approaches again to meet a drop shot but Norrie smokes the ball past him.

The Brit gets a friendly bounce and then holds serve.

Norrie pulls out the fist pump as Medvedev goes wide. The first point of this crucial game goes to the Brit.

The second is Medvedev’s as Norrie pushes a forehand too long. 15-15.

Both men trade points again but Norrie strikes first with a risky approach to the net. He volleys back a passing winner which gets Medvedev yelling in frustration.

At set point, the rally goes long. Both men keep the ball in play and work each other side-to-side.

Norrie targets the backhand and Medvedev finds the net!

Norrie comes from 5-4 down to win the first set!

Norrie is under pressure. After getting back in the net he’s facing break point and has to save it.

A wayward first serve allows Medvedev to attack the second one. Both players are slightly timid but Norrie takes the risk. He forces Medvedev to the left then spanks home a volley from the net.

Norrie takes the next point from the serve and holds thanks to a drop shot at the net!

Norrie is now one game away from winning the first set.

Medvedev finds the net in the first rally which gets Norrie skipping on his tip toes.

The Brit then rolls his wrists over a forehand sent across court. The ball bounces slightly higher and Medvedev finds the net again.

The Russian’s response is to fling down an ace to bring the game to 15-30.

A double fault opens the door massively for Norrie. Two break points and the crowd noise rises.

Break! Norrie peppers the forehand and forces Medvedev deep. The Russian hooks one too long and the first set is back on serve.
