The Red Devils spent £162million over the summer with Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo all arriving at the Theatre of Dreams.

And things started brightly with a 5-1 demolition of Leeds, followed by victories over Wolves and Newcastle.

However, there’s been a significant downturn in results over the last two weeks.

United lost their Champions League opener against Young Boys before being knocked out of the Carabao Cup to West Ham.

And their most recent defeat to Aston Villa on home turf has raised doubts about Solskjaer’s tactical ability with ‘#OleOut’ trending on social media.

Bookmakers Betfair have responded with their ‘Next Manager’ betting market and it’s Pochettino who leads a list of star-studded candidates at 10/3.

Pochettino admitted there was “some basis” to the rumours linking him with the position at United at the beginning of the year.

But the Argentine, 49, signed a one-year contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain until June 2023 in July and now has compatriot Lionel Messi in his ranks.

Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers is next in the market at 4/1 – a fraction ahead of 5/1 free agent Antonio Conte.

Conte remains available having left Inter Milan three weeks after leading the club to a first Serie A title in 11 years.

Zinedine Zidane, also without a club, is offered at 12s with England boss Gareth Southgate and Julian Nagelsmann locked together at 16/1.

Much further down the list are Frank Lampard at 33/1 with club legend Eric Cantona the outsider of the field at 275/1.
