Women’s IDC set to roll

The Digicel Women’s Inter-District Championship final will be played at the ANZ Stadium in Suva on Sunday.

This was confirmed by Fiji FA competitions manager Amitesh Pal.

“The tournament proper starts tomorrow at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka with all group stages to be played till Friday and semi-finals on Saturday,” said Pal

“We want to give our women’s team exposure and that is the main objective of getting the finals here at ANZ Stadium in Suva where two other DPL matches will be played.”

“The final will also be live on Walesi platform via FCB Sports Pop Up channel which is also a boost to the women football,” said Pal

Pal said the tournament would be very tough this year.

“All the teams have been preparing well for the tourney and there are also some players who have been transferred to other districts in the mid-season which will make the competition exciting,” said Pal

Neighbors Rewa and Tailevu Naitasiri will open the 2021 Digicel Women’s Inter-District Championship at 3pm followed by Nadoga vs Suva match at 5.30 pm tomorrow.

On Thursday at 3 pm, Ba will take on Rewa while Labasa and Nadroga will battle at 5 pm.

On Friday Suva will face Labasa at 3 pm while Tailevu Naitasiri and Ba will conclude the group stages at 5pm.

The first semi-final will be played between Group A winners and Group B runner-up at 2 pm while the second semi-final between the Group B winners and Group A runners at 4 pm.

Group A has Labasa Rewa and Tailevu Naitasiri while Ba, Suva and Nadroga make up Group B
