UFC legend Michael Bisping has revealed the truth behind his bitter war-of-words with Conor McGregor.
The former UFC Middleweight Champion made the stunning revelation on the Michael Bisping Podcast that the fall out happened over a movie role.
In 2016, the 41-year-old landed a part in the Vin Diesel film XXX: Return of Xander Cage.
But that was only after ‘Notorious’ pulled out of the action flick because he wanted to focus on his upcoming fight with Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.
McGregor, 32, then called out Bisping in a press conference demanding that the Brit should thank him and pay him a 20 per cent cut of his fee.
Bisping revealed: “He had that role in XXX, and he didn’t take it because he wanted to focus on the fight.
“So I went an auditioned for XXX and he did a press conference and said a couple of comments that I didn’t like.
“He said, ‘Bisping owes me 20 per cent for that, and I didn’t even get a thank you.’
“I was like, ‘hold on, don’t be rating my accomplishments – you’re f***ing Conor McGregor you’ve got the world at your feet. I’m trying to do my best here.’
“On my radio show that I had on Sirius XM at the time, maybe it was a bit petty, I said that Eddie Alvarez was going to destroy Conor McGregor.
“I was like, ‘I’m not going to do you any favours after you said that at a press conference.’
“Anyway, Conor took exception to that. We went back-and-forth, talked a bit of s***, there you go. But we’re all good now, water under the bridge.”
Bisping did, however, laugh that McGregor showed him he was wrong to back Alvarez, and waxed lyrical about his performance in the scrap.
“You can’t deny that fight was incredible. And he certainly put me in my place,” Bisping continued.
“It was sublime, it really was. Every shot that he threw landed perfectly.
“He f***ing destroyed Eddie Alvarez, man. And I’d just seen Eddie Alvarez in the fight prior to that against Rafael dos Anjos.
“And when I saw what he did to dos Anjos, I thought ‘f*** me’. I didn’t see anyone beating him any time soon.
“But Conor made him look like nothing.”
