It’s transfer deadline day as Premier League clubs face a frantic few hours to complete last-minute deals before 11pm tonight.
And there’s already been one huge twist today as Mathys Tel looks to have reversed his decision not to join Tottenham. The Bayern Munich forward has flown to England and will undergo a medical ahead of a loan move to the north London club.
The young Frenchman had reportedly been the target of both Manchester United – who are on the hunt for a new forward after Marcus Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan – and Arsenal, who had not given up hope of signing him.
Arsenal have been heavily linked over the past few days with Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins to bolster their Premier League title chances but Mikel Arteta has been told that Watkins will not be leaving for less than £60m after an opening offer for the England international was rejected last week and a move now appears unlikely.
Elsewhere, Manchester City’s flaws were exposed by Arsenal in a 5-1 defeat yesterday and Pep Guardiola’s side could yet sign midfielder Douglas Luiz from Juventus. It promises to be a busy day at Chelsea, too, with Ben Chilwell, Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku among the players who may depart.
Chelsea have been linked with Alejandro Garnacho throughout the window and while the 20-year-old Manchester United winger looks unlikely to follow Rashford out of the door, Red Devils left-back Tyrell Malacia is set to sign on loan for PSV for as we tick towards tonight’s 11pm deadline. Garnacho to stay at Man Utd
The links surrounding Alejandro Garnacho’s future dominated the rumour mill for several days, but it appears that the Argentine will stay in Manchester.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Garnacho is “set to stay, [an] internal decision has been made”.

Tottenham revive Mathys Tel deal with forward set to join from Bayern Munich
Tottenham have managed to revive their move for Mathys Tel with the Bayern Munich forward set to join the club, the PA news agency understands.
Spurs entered talks with the 19-year-old last week after an agreement with Bayern had been struck for a deal worth in the region of 60 million euros (£50.2m).
However, negotiations stalled on Friday with Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United also interested in France international Tel – but he is now set to link up with Tottenham, although the exact structure of the deal is still to be finalised.

Three things new signing Patrick Dorgu will bring to Manchester United
Manchester United signed two new players over the weekend, the first arrivals of Ruben Amorim’s reign: the 18-year-old centre-back Ayden Heaven joined from Arsenal on Saturday, and 20-year-old left-back Patrick Dorgu landed from Lecce on Sunday. After a summer window spent signing young but established talent for Erik ten Hag, the winter window has seen a shift towards raw potential.
What is so unusual about Dorgu is just how quickly he has risen from relative obscurity to join one of Europe’s giant clubs (giant by reputation if not by actual football). Lecce spotted Dorgu playing in the youth ranks for Danish side Nordsjælland – a club renowned for nurturing young talent with Brighton’s Simon Adingra and Brentford’s Mikkel Damsgaard among their graduates – and he moved to Italy aged 17 in a transfer worth £170,000.
At the time, there was no suggestion that he was the next great hope of Danish football. “He never really did that well as a youth player in Denmark,” journalist Karsten Krogh told the BBC. “He was never a star anywhere. It wasn’t like the other teams in Denmark were lining up to get his signature.”

Tottenham in advanced talks with Tomori
Spurs are closing in on the signing of AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori.
That’s according to Sky Sports, which claims the former Chelsea centre-back is a key target at Tottenham.
Spurs want to add another defender before the deadline on Monday, with Christian Romero and Radu Dragusin both injured and Micky Van de Ven only just recovered from a hamstring strain.
The club hijacked Wolves’ deal for Kevin Danso so have some cover and that may mean a move for Tomori is not as urgent as once thought.
Sky Sports says that although Spurs and Milan are in ‘advanced talks’, no agreement has yet been made with the player.
