The Ba football side has started its preparation for the 2021 Vodafone Premier League.
Former Nadi football mentor Kamal Swamy has been officially appointed as the new head coach of the Ba football team for this season.
Swamy takes over from Ronil Kumar who has stepped down from the coaching position to focus on his new career path.
Swamy thanked Ba FA executives for having faith in him.
“Yes we have started our training last week and I must thank Ba FA officials for giving me an opportunity to coach the team,” said Swamy
Swamy said his aim was to bring back the lost glory to the Ba side.
“My aim is to make a winning team and I know it is not impossible as there are lots of talents in Ba in terms of football.
“We have mixture of young and some experience players and only they needed was proper guidance so I am ready to give my best to the team,” said Swamy
The Nadi school teacher was at Lawaqa Park watching Yalalevu Football Club playing in the Vodafone National Regional Club Championship.
He said he was happy with the performance of some of the youth players in the Ba club.
“It is good to see some of the youth players in club playing so well. I always believe in player development and will be doing same in Ba,”said Swamy.
Swamy’s first assignment with the Men-in Black will be against Labasa when the Vodafone Premier League kicks off next month.
Swamy started his coaching career in 1992 and has coached district teams like Suva, Rewa, Tavua, Lautoka and Nadi.
He will be assisted by former reps Malakai Khenahewe and Daniel Krishna.
