Unique Rubber Stamp sponsored Suva FC has moved up to third place in the Digicel Premier League points table ladder after an impressive 2-0 win against Navua on Sunday at Uprising Sports Center in Pacific Harbour.
The Amit Prakash-coached Navua side held Suva in the first 45 minutes with good defense by the Navuans.
Just two minutes into the second half Suva defender Waisake Navunigasau headed in the opener after connecting well with a Filipe Baravilala free-kick.
The second goal was scored by goalkeeper-cum-striker Emori Ragata in the 81st minute.
Suva coach Babs Khan was disappointed despite the win.
“Even though we won, it’s not a good win because we missed a lot of opportunities and could have scored more goals, “said Khan
“We really have to work hard on our finishing before our next match against Nadi.”
Navua coach Amit Prakash said they will have to work hard now for the remaining matches to avoid relegation.
“It seems the players lost focus on our mission in the game,”
“We had our chances but failed to utilise but we will work hard for our remaining matches as it’s not over yet, “said Prakash
Suva now has 14 points after 10 matches while Navua continues to sit at the bottom of the table with 5 points after 9 games.
