The Unique Rubber Stamp Suva FC has climbed to the second spot in the Digicel Premier League after thrashing Esy Cool Nadi FC 4-0 in their Round 11 fixture at the ANZ Stadium in Suva on Sunday.
The Capital City side took an early lead in the 12 minutes of play from the penalty spot after Nadi defender Ashneel Kumar brought down Suva striker Mohammed Ramzan Khan in the penalty box.
Midfielder Shahil Dave without any mistake brought Suva into 1 nil lead.
.In the 25th minute Khan doubled Suva’s lead after tapping a Christopher Wasasala cross.
Replacement midfielder Iosefo Verevou scored Suva’s third goal in the 82nd minute while Ni-Vanuatu striker Azariah Soromon went off the bench and scored Suva’s fourth and final goal just before the full-time whistle.
Suva coach Babs Khan said their game plan worked well.
“We had our game plan and I am happy the players executed the plan well and denied Nadi possession, “said Khan
“It was a tough game but the players did a good job to bring us three points,”
“It feels good the hard work of players and they tried the best to give their hundred percent in the match and I am proud of them, “said Khan
Khan said they still need to work hard to maintain consistency.
“We really need to work more on our finishing to get more goals,” said Khan
Nadi coach Salen Lal was disappointed with the result.
“Very disappointed I would say because the way we planned before coming here to play but the boys lost concentration and Suva had opportunities and they scored, “said Lal
Lal said he won’t say they were unlucky but would say they didn’t perform well today (Sunday)
We will have to go back and talk to the team and prepare well for the remaining matches,” said Lal
Both teams will be on break this weekend. In the next round Nadi will face Labasa while Suva will play Lautoka.
Suva now has 17 points after 11 matches while Esy Kool Nadi is in the sixth spot with 11 points from 11 matches.
