3rd set — Novak Djokovic 0-1 Dominic Thiem* (sets 6-4 4-6)
Both players are back from their break, Thiem ending Djokovic’s 17-set winning streak. During it, replays of the exchange between Djokovic and the umpire were shown and Novak even said saying to him: “Well done, you’ve made yourself famous.”
Not a good look – and neither was the first point of the the third set: a double fault from the Serb.
He battles back on the second point before working break point.
Thiem wastes it, stepping in to a short, tame volley but sending his simple forehand into the let cord and then wide.
But Thiem gets another opportunity and is gifted the break when Djokovic puts a backhand wide. The Austrian leads for the first time in the match.
Novak has seemingly lost all confidence in his serve. Bizarre.
