The stage is all set for the inaugural Rewa Legends Club fundraiser this Saturday at Fiji FA Hall in Vatuwaqa.
Co-ordinator Abdul Mannan says they were very excited and looking forward to the night.
“The fundraising drive is for a worthy cause and I can confirm that the tickets have been sold out,”
“We are happy that people have come forward and bought the tickets to help our former reps,”
The former Rewa defender says they will make the night a memorable one.
“It is going to be a night to remember and I can assure those who have bought the ticket will have their money’s worth,” the former national captain said
“The money raised in the fundraiser will assist our former players with medical and other needs It’s going to be a night of feast for everyone with unlimited drinks and food,”
Mannan said they had seen how some of the former players have been struggling in their lives.
“We have been talking to some of our former football mates and they have been telling how they are struggling in their day to day lives,”
“This idea came up after our former teammate George Koi became ill and we visited him and saw his condition so we decided to assist him and after his death, we decided to form a group to continue and look after the welfare of our teammates.
“So five of us which includes Patrick Wise who is the secretary, Onnie Wong is the president and I as the treasure with Vijendra Prasad Shorty and Isikeli Delana decided to form a group which was supported by a lot of former players overseas and locally,” said Manan
Manna said they had invited about 40 former Fiji reps to the event.
“We have a special invitation for some of the former national reps from the around the country to add more flavor to the night, “he said
“This will give m opportunities for former players to meet and mingle and share their stories with their fans”
Mannan said he was overwhelmed with the support shown by individuals and business houses.
“I heartily thank each and everyone for their support in this worthy course.”
