MORNING, ARSENAL FANS
Under-fire Mikel Arteta praised Arsenal’s “resilience” in last night’s 1-1 Premier League home draw with Southampton – but unwanted stats are still adding up.
The Gunners remain sixth bottom after their worst ever Prem start, with just two points from their last five games.
But Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang neatly equalised ex-Gunner Theo Walcott’s fine opener.
And boss Arteta said: “We showed some resilience and character to hang in there for so long against a really dangerous team.
“We came back after conceding the goal and showed how much we wanted it.”
But wideman Bukayo Saka was one of the few Gunners to impress – and the first to apologise to fans afterwards.
The England star, 19, tweeted a picture of himself kneeling on the Emirates turf, head bowed, alongside the words: “You deserve more Arsenal fans” – followed by a broken-heart emoji.
Gunners’ technical director Edu claims they need a creative midfielder – despite top earner Mesut Ozil being frozen out.
German playmaker Ozil, 32, is being linked with a January loan move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
