The Fiji Football Association is proud to announce that three local officials have been elevated to the FIFA list as referees for 2022.
Veer Singh has been appointed as a referee while Ashwin Raj and Avinesh Narayan as assistant referees.
Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said the trio worked extremely hard and have reaped their rewards.
“This group of match officials are extremely passionate and motivated.”
“They endorsed the plan and vision of Fiji FA which has culminated with them being appointed to the FIFA list,”
“This is a huge milestone for the FFA and is another step forward for our match officials. I hope that next year, we will have more Fijian referees following in their footsteps. Hopefully, this will encourage more persons to take up officiating to become FIFA officials.”
Referee Veer Singh was presented with his FIFA badge today at Fiji FA Headquarters in Vatuwaqa by Fiji FA vice president Ravin Swamy and CEO Mohammed Yusuf.
An emotional Singh said his hard work really paid off.
“It was not an easy journey. I really worked hard to achieve this,” said Singh
“I have been trying this for the last 10 years and I thank God for his guidance upon me,”
“I would like to thank Fiji Football, Fiji FA Referees Director Rakesh Varman, OFC and my refereeing family for having faith in me.”
35-year-old Seaqaqa native dedicated his award to his late dad and uncle.
“I wish my dad and my uncle (dada) was here. My dad left me in 2010 and my uncle really supported me in my career but I know he must be smiling seeing me taking this badge,”
“My family always supported me and I thank my wife and my three daughters for their sacrifice, “said Singh
