- His former agent, Maik Barthel, claims he has dreamed of playing for Real
Robert Lewandowski‘s former agent has mocked the Polish striker’s potential move to Barcelona, claiming the Bayern Munich star has always wanted to join Real Madrid.
Lewandowski appears set to leave the Bundesliga giants after his current agent, Pini Zahavi, said the player’s trophy-laden eight years at the club had been consigned to ‘history’.
He has been linked with a switch to Barcelona, which Zahavi insists would ‘fulfill a lifetime dream’ for the 33-year-old.

Lewandowski’s former agent Maik Barthel weighed in on the player’s future in a sarcastic Tweet
Maik Barthel, who represented Lewandowski until 2014 and was involved in his transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Bayern, has weighed in on his former client’s next move in a sarcastic Tweet as he disputed Zahavi’s claim that he has dreamed of playing for Barca.
‘Your whole life do you want to go to Real Madrid in order to end up at Barcelona later? OK,’ Barthel wrote.
Zahavi has alleged Bayern are ‘denying Lewandowski the opportunity’ to join Barcelona despite telling the German side of his wish to leave, which has left the talismanic striker feeling ‘disrespected for months’ by the club’s board.
‘For Robert Lewandowski, FC Bayern is history. Robert wants to leave FC Bayern after eight years in which he gave the club everything,’ Zahavi told Bild.

‘Now, at almost 34, he has the opportunity to fulfill a lifetime dream and join the club he always dreamed of.
‘Why is FC Bayern denying him this opportunity? For Robert, the matter is very clear: he wants to leave FC Bayern this summer.’
Zahavi also claimed that the striker has not received an offer to extend his stay at Bayern, before revealing that they wanted over £100million for the veteran striker if they were to sell him this summer, despite only having one year left on his current deal.
Barcelona insist they can afford the 129-cap international despite their financial problems, but if an agreement cannot be reached, it is unlikely he would move to their rivals Real.
Lewandowski has scored 50 goals in 46 appearances for Bayern this season.
