Rewa to play without key reps

Digicel national football and Rewa midfielder Setareki Hughes has urged Rewa fans to come out in numbers and support the team despite five key players missing this weekend.

The Delta Tigers will miss the services of goalkeeper Mohammed Alzar, midfielders Tevita Warainivalu, Patrick Joseph and defender Kishan Sami in the match against Tailevu Naitasiri on Sunday.

Hughes said it was good that the team opted to play despite five of us in the national camp.

“It’s good they are playing without us because other players will have an opportunity to show their talent,” said Hughes.

“I think this is the best way to win the hearts of our young players who have been aiming to be in the starting lineup,” he said

He urged fans to have faith in the team.

“I urge all our fans to be positive and support the team,”

Hughes expects a tough match against arch-rivals Tailevu Naitasiri.

“It’s going to be a good game and fans can expect fireworks to explode as both teams will clash after so many years,” he said

“I am sure our new boys will do their best and will win,”

Rewa will play Tailevu Naitasiri this Sunday at ANZ Stadium in Suva at 4 pm in the triple header.

At 12 pm there will be the final of the Digicel Women’s IDC and followed by Nasinu vs Nadi match at 2 pm.

Meanwhile, Suva and Lautoka will not feature in the Digicel Premier League due to more than four players in the national squad.

In other match on Sunday at 3 pm, Navua will host Ba at Uprising Sports Center in Pacific Harbour.
