Premier League return in weeks EXCLUSIVE, Dutch football season voided, UFC 249 new date – The Sun

Charlie Adam reckons health secretary Matt Hancock ‘jumped the gun’ when called on footballers to take a pay cut because of the coronavirus crisis.

Earlier in April Mr Hancock said footballers should ‘play their part’ by taking a salary reduction.

In a media conference, Hancock said: “Given the sacrifices that many people are making, including some of my colleagues in the NHS who have made the ultimate sacrifice…I think the first thing that Premier League footballers can do is make a contribution, take a pay cut and play their part.”

However Adams hit back at the health secretary describing his comments as ‘ridiculous’.

Speaking to beIN Sports the Reading midfielder said: “Footballers will definitely contribute but Matt Hancock’s comments were ridiculous.

“He jumped the gun too quickly and he tried to look at what was the easy solution.”
