Newcastle fans get excited about Mbappe transfer as Saudi takeover moves step closer after PSG star’s transfer bombshell

NEWCASTLE fans online have joked about signing Kylian Mbappe, after it was revealed that their Saudi takeover is back on.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment fund launched a bid to buy the Toon nearly two years ago.

But their £300m bid was blocked by the Premier League over a piracy battle with Qatar.

Now that the Saudi government has lifted its ban on Qatari broadcaster beIN Sports, however, the deal could be completed in the coming hours.

Following initial reports of a billionaire takeover, some Newcastle fans dreamed of a star-studded team featuring the likes of Paris Saint-Germain ace Mbappe.

And following last night’s news, one wrote: “Could it be that Mbappe has been stalling on a new contract because he knew the Newcastle takeover would eventually got through.”

Another added: “Looks like Mbappe to Newcastle United is on. Sheikh money to sheikh money.”

While a third joked: “Scenes when Mbappe says ‘I’ve always loved Newcastle I grew up watching Hatem Ben Arfa’.”

A fourth quipped: “I’m not going to get ahead of my self or anything but what number should I get on my Newcastle Mbappe top?”

Mbappe, 22, rocked PSG earlier this week by admitting that he wants to leave and join Real Madrid.

He told L’Equipe: “What could make me stay at PSG? We’re far from it… since I wanted to leave Paris this summer.

“I’m not going to be the hypocrite, my ambition was clear. We will see what happens – my future is not my priority now

“I am attached to PSG, and if I had left this summer, it would have only been for Real Madrid.

Leaving PSG was the next logical step

“I continued playing in August and I had no problem with that. Why did I want to leave?

“I thought my adventure was over. If I had left, it would only have been to Real Madrid. Leaving PSG was the next logical step.”

His mum confused matters, however, by revealing to Les Parisien that he could sign a new deal and stay after all.

She said: “We are currently talking with PSG (about a contract extension) and things are going well.

“I even spoke to Leonardo [on Monday]. Will we find an agreement? One thing for sure, he will give everything until the end to win the Champions League.”
