Nadi women to join Super League

The All-in-one Builders Nadi Women’s team will feature in the Digicel Women’s Super League 2023.

This was confirmed after the Jetsetters defeated Nadogo Women 3-2 and drew 1-1 against Navua Women to win the Digicel Women’s Senior League 2022 playoff that was held at Bidesi Park in Suva over the weekend.

Head coach Fazeel Khan was ecstatic after the win and commended the team for a great season.

“We made a plan at the beginning of the season, went accordingly and finally our mission has been completed for this year,” he said.

“At this juncture, I would like to thank the Almighty for the strength that he provided to the team throughout the season.

“Thanking all the hardworking players for the great teamwork and effort towards the win, not forgetting Nadi FA Women vice president Amina Bi for the support and guidance. Also thank the official and sponsor Mr Raj of All-in-one builders and Nadi FA President Mr Max Chetty for believing in me and assigning me the coach’s role.

“This victory is for all the Nadi Fans.”

Fiji Football Association Women Vice President, Susan Wise, said this marked yet another historic chapter for Fiji FA.

“This is the first year in the restructured competition of two divisions and this was the first ever promotion of the women’s team to the premier division which is the Digicel Women’s Super League.

“Congratulations to the Nadi Women’s team for the win and getting promoted to the tier 1 league.

“I would like to thank the Fiji FA President Mr. Rajesh Patel, CEO Mr. Yusuf and the board members for giving equal priority to women’s football in Fiji.

“Also, heartfelt appreciation and thank you to FIFA as this was made possible through the FIFA Women’s Football Development Programme,” she said.

She posed a challenge to the Nadi Women’s team.

“I would like to pose a challenge to the players to work hard and earn yourself a spot in the next Digicel Kulas squad.”
