League gets better and better

Rajesh Patel

Fiji FA President

Greetings to all

What a weekend of football we had and hope it continues this weekend. It’s good to see the fans coming out in numbers to support their teams. The Digicel Premier League is getting the rhythm as we have seen some constructive and entertaining football displayed by the team.

Congratulations to Lautoka FC who has further extended its lead in DPL and also to Labasa for their unbeaten run in the competition.

The Digicel Senior League is also heating up as the six Viti Levu teams are fighting for the spot in the promotion/relegation play-off with Vanua Levu Zone to kick start this weekend.

The Digicel Women’s Super League is getting some mixed results with Ba dominating the competition undefeated while the Labasa women team will return in action this weekend.

The Digicel Futsal League in the southern and western is getting competitive and running smoothly. Suva and Ba are currently on top of the points in their zones respectively.

Fiji Football Association conducted its first coaching course last weekend since the resumption of football in the country last month. The three days of MA Youth Coaching Certificate course was held from Friday to Sunday last week and congratulations to all participants.

I would also like to thank each and everyone for the smooth running of the competition but there have been some fans who are not adhering to the protocols. Please as you all know what is required to come and witness the games so please cooperate with us to make sure we are not stopped from hosting the matches.

It was disappointing to say 15 people were caught cheating the vaccination system and coming in with others’ vaccination cards and 10 people were sent back because they came with their cards.

Fiji FA will not tolerate such actions and we remind all fans that vaccination is mandatory at all the venues so please come with a photo ID and your vaccination to avoid disappointment.

All the best to all the teams for this weekend

Have a great week.
