AFTER 76 long, dreary days without any live sport in Britain – horse racing is back!
The first major sport out of the gates following the easing of coronavirus restrictions, racing returns with a bumper 10-race card at Newcastle.
It will not be racing as we know it, with face masks and social distancing replacing big crowds and rails bookies as the new norm.
But it is a huge relief for the racing industry to be back up and running – and there are plenty of opportunities for the punters this afternoon.
The first race kicks off at 1pm, when connections of the red-hot favourite Stone Mason will hope to earn a slice of racing history as the first winner back after shutdown.
The big race of the day is at 5.05pm, with several of the biggest yards in the country represented.
Sir Michael Stoute’s Alignak and John Gosden’s Good Tidings could battle it out, while Frankly Darling will need to win impressively at 5.40pm if she is to head to the Oaks at Epsom next month.
Before you place your bets, don’t forget to check out the previews and tips on the Sun Racing website.
Enjoy the sport – it’s so good to be back.
