The Lami football team created a major upset in the Digicel Senior League beating table leaders Tavua 2-0 last Saturday at Uprising Sports Center.
Lami FA president Keshaw Ram Sharma said it was a great win.
“This is our first win in the competition and we are proud of the boys because they played their heart out against a champion team,”
“Tavua recently were crowned the champions of the Fiji FA Presidents Cup and our win against them is a boost,” said Sharma
“We have built our team and we knew results would come slowly and I am happy with the way we progressing,”
“Hats off to the boys for the gallant performance and I heartily thank the coaches and officials for the job well done,” said Sharma
“Our goalkeeper Alfred Haununu was the man of the match denying Tavua to score goals. Our goals came through the boots of Simione Maikali and Krishneel Chandra.
In other Digicel Senior League, Viti Levu Zone fixture Northland Tailevu won 4-2 against Rakiraki.
In the Vanua Levu Zone Seaqaqa won 4-0 over Dreketi and Taveuni created a major upset holding Bua to one-all draw.
