The Labasa football side maintains its unbeaten streak in the Digicel Premier League after a 1-1 draw against Rewa on Sunday at ANZ Stadium in Suva.
Coming back in the action after seven months, the Babasiqa Lions were backed by a huge fan.
Young midfielder Melvin Mani got the opener in the 30th minute of play after pouncing on an Edwin Sahayam shot which was tapped away by goalkeeper Mohammed Alam.
Rewa kept the pressure on Labasa defense but failed to break the solid wall of goalkeeper Akuila Mataisuva in the first half.
The Delta Tigers came out strongly in the second half which saw Anish Khem getting the equaliser with Bruce Hughes cross.
Labasa coach Ravneel Pratap was impressed with the performance of his team.
“It wasn’t the result we were expecting but I will say the players did their best in the game knowing they came back after seven months.”
“We will really need to work on our finishing as we missed a lot of opportunities but I am happy they showed their talents,” said Pratap
Rewa coach Rodicks Singh said he was happy with the draw.
“Gallant performance by the boys. All the players gave their best but we need to work hard in the finishing after a lot of opportunities were wasted, we could have scored more goals and the result would have been different, “said Singh
