Kenya Simbas Fall Narrowly To Zimbabwe Goshawks

The Kenya Simbas suffered a narrow 21-22 loss to the Zimbabwe Goshawks in their second Currie Cup First Division match on Saturday 23rd April at Ceres, Western Cape.

The Paul Oderacharges were trailing 17-10 at the break with Simbas points coming from Fly half’s Jone Kubu penalty followed by a well-worked try by scored by winger Derrick Ashihundu, converted by Jone Kubu.

In the second half, two infringements by the Goshawks handed Simbas an opportunity to add points to their tally and Kubu sliced the uprights on both occasions successfully. The two penalties sandwiched the Goshawks unconverted try, the scoreboard reading 22-16 in their favour.

With less than 20 minutes left on the clock, the Simbas had a lineout in their opponent’s half, their skillful execution of the set-piece resulted in a try as they mauled their way over the whitewash. The conversion was unsuccessful,

In the last moments of the match, the Simbas kept possession of the ball as they slowly made their way to the Goshawks try line. However, they were penalized for holding on to the ball in the ruck in the last play, the match ending 22-21 in favour of the Zimbbwe Goshawks.
