Jetsetters to prove a point

The Nadi football side will out to prove a point in the 2022 Punjas Battle of the Giants Tournament at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

It has been 26 years since they hoisted the BOG silverware, beating Tavua 3-1 in 1996 final in Ba.

The Jetsetters became the first BOG champions when they beat Ba 1-0 in the final at Govind Park in 1978. They came close to clinching the title in 2017, only to be edged by Rewa 2-1 in a closely contested final.

The team has been doing well in the Digicel Premier League under coach Viliame Toma.

Nadi will rest their hopes on players like William Valentine, Ame Votaniu  Ilmotama Jese who has made a return for the Jetsetters, and former Labasa, Lautoka and Rewa striker Siotame Kubu who will also make his debut for Nadi in the BOG and Solomon Island duo Brian Limoki and Jaygrey Sipakana.

Nadi will begin its BOG campaign against the unpredictable Nadroga side on Friday 26 August at 2 pm. They face Suva in their second match at 3 pm on Saturday before taking on Labasa in its final pool match at 5 pm on Sunday.
