- Five first-team players, including Paul Pogba, are leaving the club
In a rare example of an official club website publishing an interview where the quotes do not reflect well on the team, Neville said United should make at least four signings in the transfer window to improve a side which endured a dismal campaign last term.

There have already been five high-profile departures at Old Trafford as first-team players Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard and Nemanja Matic are all leaving when their contracts expire at the end of the month.
The exit of Cavani leaves the Red Devils with only one recognised striker in their squad, Cristiano Ronaldo, while there remain doubts over the futures of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.
Centre-midfield has long been an area the club needs to address and that has been exacerbated by Pogba, Mata, Lingard and Matic all heading for pastures new.
United have held talks with Barcelona to sign midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who the club’s recruitment team have identified as their prime target for the summer.

Neville believes United need to add reinforments up front to help Cristiano Ronaldo
‘We know the areas they absolutely need to actually strengthen,’ Neville told United’s website. ‘Central midfield is an absolute necessity. An absolute necessity.
‘Manchester United need midfield players. They also need a centre-forward. I know Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to stay and he’s an absolutely brilliant performer, but they need a centre-forward. Centre-forward is a must.’
Neville, a frequent critic of United last season as they failed to qualify for the Champions League and limped to their lowest-ever Premier League points tally, also believes Ten Hag should look for reinforcements out wide and in defence.

‘I think there’ll need to be a wide player, just to beef up the squad, and I think full-backs are absolutely critical in the modern game,’ he added.
‘[There are] four full-backs there, it’ll be interesting to see which two, three or four of those are liked.’
Ten Hag will get his first look at the squad he has inherited when they return for pre-season on June 27 – although his entire team will not be together until some time in July owing to international fixtures.
The Dutchman has already reportedly laid down the law to his players in an email outlining what he is expecting from them under his leadership.
