The 2021 Vodafone Futsal Inter-District Championship was a major success says Fiji Football Association Competitions Manager Amitesh Pal.
Pal said all the teams came out well prepared.
“Despite no fans cheering the teams played their heart out,” said Pal
He said the futsal tournament was growing bigger and better every year.
“This year the competition was more competitive compared to last year because the interest in futsal is growing in the district since the National futsal league started,”
Pal said one thing was proved in the tournament that players who regularly play five-a-side were the best.
“We saw that the players who regularly play futsal were out showing the eleven-a-side players.”
He said both finalists Suva and Lami had some futsal players in the team which proved worth.
“Most of the Suva players don’t play 11-a-side for their districts as well some of the Lami players and they proved to be the better side, “said Sahib.
“Congratulations to both teams and thank all the participating team for displaying quality futsal,”
Pal said they were grateful to Fiji Sports Council for allowing them to host the tournament at the Vodafone Arena.
“The venue itself gave players to showcase their talents and I am sure people watching live on FBC TV enjoyed the thrills and actions of the game,”
The HLB Mann Judd Suva side walked away with $4500 in prize money while Pacifika Tents & Mars Express Supplies Lami received $2500.
