Fiji Football Association in conjunction with Lami Futsal Association is hosting a Beach Soccer Tournament at Fiji Sports Council Beach Soccer pitch in Laucala this Saturday and Sunday.
Fiji FA competitions manager Amitesh Pal says they were trying to revive and grow beach soccer in the country.
“Our aim is to give opportunities to our players to enjoy beach soccer and at the same time get the feel of playing on the sand.”
“We have received lots of support from districts in the growth of futsal and we are optimistic that same we will be done for beach soccer,” said Pal
Pal said the tournament was to give opportunities to our district players to get interested in Beach Soccer.
“We had an open tournament in January this year but the second wave of the pandemic stopped us from hosting more competitions for the last six months so we have re-started with LFA.”
“Eight Lami Futsal clubs have shown their interest in putting up a team.”
“We are proud to say that Digicel has come on board to sponsor the event and we are very thankful to them for supporting us in these hard times,” said Pal
Pal said they would be introducing the Beach Soccer tournament around the country.
“Like other games, we also want to see Beach Soccer League to develop our players for the national team,” said Pal
