THE Viti Water Flow Lautoka FC are the champions of the 2021 Digicel Premier League after beating Nadroga 3-0 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Sunday.
This is Lautoka’s sixth national league title. They first won the title in 1984 and again in 1988, 2009 and made back to back in 2017 and 2018.
Despite a match in hand for the Blues against Labasa, they have been crowned the champions with 27 points.
Lautoka coach Imdad Ali said discipline was behind the success of the team this season.
“I guess the boys kept their discipline and hard work through the season and that was the key behind our success,” said an elated Ali
“They have been doing well and the most important part was they kept disciplined.
“When players listen, then we achieve that is one important thing we always look during training sessions, game time and even after games,”
Ali said they were confident of winning the title this year.
“We knew we will the title after the commitment and dedication from the officials and the players,”
The Blues won eight matches, two loses and three draws in the competition.
Wilson Doedoke, Sairusi Nalaubu and James Pillay scored a goal each against Nadroga.
Their final match this weekend will be against Labasa. Both teams drew 1-1 last Friday at ANZ Stadium in Suva.
