FoodCity / Ash Cuts & Style Rewa after finishing as runner up in the Vodafone Premier League (VPL) comes to the Vodafone Fiji FACT with an added spring in their step having had a successful year so far.
The Delta Tigers have the Punjas Battle of the Giants title under their belt and had featured in the semi-final of the Courts IDC.
They have proven they are a tournament team and have what it takes to come out a tough pool and go ahead and win tournaments.
Rewa is a team full of confidence, and has the ability to compete with the best teams in the country.
Coached by National Women’s head coach Marika Rodu, their last outing in the VPL proved they can play till last minute after coming from behind to beat Lautoka 5-3 last month.
Considering they keep their game plan, they are well on their way to becoming semi final contenders.
The Delta Tigers won the Vodafone Fiji FACT title back to back in 2017 and 2018 after ending their 21 year drought in 2011.
They won the title three times and have been runners-up twice.
Rodu has put together a talented squad with mixt of both up and coming youth and experienced players.
They will rely on the experience of players like National goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau, Peniame Drova, Kavaia Rawaqa, Posiano Kalisito, Usaia Tadu, Anish Khem, Setareki and Bruce Hughes, Ratu Tevita Warainivalu, Gabrieli Matanisiqa, Waisake Navunigasau and Misaele Draunibaka. Rising stars to look out for in the squad include Inoke Turagqalailai, Mohammed Naizal, France Catrogo, Mohammed Ramzan, Epeli Valevou, Patrick Joseph, Sairusi Bokini and Josaia Sela Jnr.
In pool play, they face host Labasa in the first round at ANZ Stadium in Suva on Sunday November 22 at 3pm, and takes on Ba on Wednesday November 25 at Subrail Park at 2pm. Their final pool match will be against giant killers Nasinu on Thursday at 2pm.
