The Digicel Fiji Women’s football side will face the Philippines on Thursday in a FIFA international friendly match at the Marcont Stadium in Sydney Australia.
The Lisa Cole side is currently on tour to Australia to prepare for the OFC Nations Cup which will be held in Fiji in July.
The side has lost its two warm-up matches but coach Cole believes the side will perform better against the Philippines.
“I am not happy with the results so far in our warm-up matches but it was a good learning point for our team,”
“The warm-up matches were to test our players and see how they adapt the way we want to play before we take on the Philippines”
“We know the strength of the Philippines side but we will try to better our performance,” said Cole
“It is very clear now to the players that good habits matter. Opening up early, taking a positive first touch, playing quickly, etc. All things they get away with in Fiji but won’t get away with at the next level.
“So I will say the girls have learned a lot in two matches and will surely showcase a better performance,”
“The results don’t matter but what matters is how we play and learn things before the main competition,”
“The door is still open for other players and will see how these players perform in two in the two international friendlies,” said Cole
The other match will be played on April 11 before the team heads home on April 12.
