The Digicel Women’s Football team left our shores last Sunday for a two-match International Friendly against the Philippines national side in Australia.
This is a buildup tour for the 2022 OFC Nations Cup which will be played in Fiji in July and will also play some warm-up matches against Clubs in Sydney.
The first match will be played on April 7 and the second match is scheduled to be played on April 11 in Sydney, Australia.
“We will be playing Westfield Sports High on the 30th of this month and APIA Leichardt FC on April 2nd before playing the Philippines”
Cole said they would be traveling with 20 players tomorrow.
“We are going with 20 players tomorrow (Sunday) because four of the players have not yet received their VISA but they will surely join us next week,”
“We will be playing Westfield Sports High on the 30th of this month and APIA Leichardt FC on April 2nd before playing the Philippines”
“Our main objective of this tour is to give more game time to the girls and also it will give me the opportunity to see how the players perform in their respective positions,”
“So far I have seen them doing well in training but I want to see how they play against other opponents,” said Cole
“We are playing all good teams and the girls will have more exposure playing against them,”
“I want to see the best from the players and if they don’t perform to my expectation I will for sure get in other players as the door is still open,”
“This tour will also give me an opportunity to work out our weaknesses and build up a good combination and structure in the team,”
The team will return back on April 12.
