Chelsea have reportedly added Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly to their ever-growing shortlist this summer, as they continue to chase down at least two new defenders.
The Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is keen to bring in reinforcements ahead of the new Premier League season with a huge shortlist of targets, especially in the defence with both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen departing the club.
The west London outfit are already targeting and in talks with a long-list of names, including Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt, Manchester City defender Nathan Ake, and Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde in the defensive department.

Koulibaly could be a good option for the Blues, as he wants to leave Napoli, but he is limited in his options because the Italian side are only prepared to part with their man to a club outside of Serie A.
However, the player is entering the final year of his contract and Gli Azzurri will want to get some money for the defender this summer, rather than watch him leave for nothing in 2023.
The 30-year-old was reportedly trying to engineer a £30million move to Spanish giants Barcelona earlier this month, according to Diario Sport.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has, however, now revealed the Blues have been in conversation with the Senegal International about a switch to Stamford Bridge, as they look to hijack the Catalan giants move for the defender.
He tweeted: ‘Kalidou Koulibaly, one more name in the list for Chelsea as they keep searching for two centre-backs.
‘He’s out of contract with Napoli in 2023. Been told there are conversations also on Koulibaly alongside De Ligt, Ake, Kounde.
‘Focus on Raphinha, and then centre-backs.’
A deal for Koulibaly may not be plain sailing, however, as boss Luciano Spalletti has reportedly informed the club of his plan to resign should they sell Koulibaly, according to Sport via Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.

His defending contributed to Napoli boasting the joint-best defensive record in the division, conceding just 31 goals in 38 matches.
President Aurelio De Laurentiis admitted last month that, whilst Napoli would like Koulibaly to remain at the club, they cannot force his decision.
‘He is a symbol of Napoli, and if he wants to no longer be a symbol, he must decide,’ he said.
‘We must decide. we want Koulibaly to stay, but people can’t be forced to stay.
‘Everyone has their own dignity and needs. We respect everyone.’
