Bayern Munich confirm Matthijs de Ligt signing from Juventus on a five-year deal as the Dutch defender says that ‘genuine appreciation’ from the club convinced him to join
- The Dutch defender joins from Italian giants Juventus for a reported £70m
- Matthijs de Ligt leaves Juventus after three years having joined in 2019
- Defender had been reluctant to sign a deal beyond his final two years at the club
The Dutch defender, 22, had been the subject of much speculation this summer but Bayern Munich have won the race for his signature despite interest from elsewhere, including Chelsea.
De Ligt had been reluctant to sign a new deal with Juventus beyond the final two years of his initial five-year deal with the club and as such they were happy to cash in on the Dutchman this window.
The Holland international has signed a long-term contract with the German champions until 2027.
