Family members raised the alarm around 10pm on Saturday after hearing noises coming from an upstairs room while enjoying Barcelona’s 1-0 win in Xavi’s first home game in charge downstairs.

Police rushed to the property but the burglars had already fled with the valuables by the time they arrived.

Fati, currently out injured in a new setback following his return from a knee injury that kept him out for ten months, was in the Nou Camp stands at the time.

The teenager joins a long list of Barcelona footballers whose homes have been targeted in recent years.

They include Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, Samuel Umtiti and former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho as well as now-Wolves ace Nelson Semedo.

Coutinho’s home near Barcelona was broken into in February 2018 on the same day his car was towed away.

The midfielder had to get his Audi Q7 back from a municipal pound after visiting the famous Sagrada Familia monument with family and friends and leaving it badly parked.

Worse was to come when he returned to his luxury villa in Castelldefels, a 30-minute drive south of the Catalan capital, to find it had been burgled.

The thieves are thought to have taken advantage of two ladders that had been left by a neighbouring property where work is going on to enter the mansion, the old home of Cesc Fabregas.

Coutinho was enjoying downtime with his wife Aine and friends after staying behind in Barcelona while his teammates travelled to Chelsea for a Champions League tie because he was ineligible to play in the competition.

Alvaro Morata was still a Chelsea player but on loan to Atletico Madrid when his house was targeted by burglars in June 2019 while his wife Alice Campello was at home with a nanny and their twin sons Alessandro and Leonardo.

The Italian admitted afterwards she would be “afraid for a long time to come” after the break-in at the footballer’s then-home north of Madrid as he was thousands of miles away in the Faroe Islands for Spain’s Euro 2020 qualifier.
