The 2025 football season is set for an exhilarating start with the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion (CVC) series, kicking off on Saturday, February 1, at Subrail Park in Labasa.

This highly anticipated showdown will see FMF IDC champions Extra Supermarket Labasa FC face off against Digicel Fiji Premier League winners Extra Supermarket Rewa FC in what promises to be a thrilling contest.

As fans prepare for the 33rd edition of this prestigious tournament, excitement is building for the season opener.

“The CVC series always brings excitement, and this year will be no different. Fans can expect thrilling matches as the top teams compete for the prestigious title,” Yusuf said.

Yusuf also praised Pillay Garments for their unwavering commitment to football in Fiji.

“We thank Narendra Pillay of Pillay Garments for his continuous support in the development of football in the country.

This will be the 33rd edition of the CVC, and Pillay Garments has been a proud sponsor for the past 23 years,” Yusuf added.

To help with preparations, Fiji FA has provided both teams with $3,500 in preparation and travel grants. The winner of the two-legged series will also receive $5,000 in prize money.

“We have given both teams a preparation and travel grant of $3,500, and the winner of the two-legged series will also take home $5,000,” Yusuf confirmed.

Labasa goalkeeper and captain Simione Tamanisau expressed confidence in his team’s preparations.

“The team is preparing well for the series. We know the fans have high expectations, and we are ready to give it our all,” Tamanisau said.
